SES employees are actively involved in environmental programs that improve our local waterways and educate the public about environmental issues. In conjunction with the Patuxent River Keeper, in April 2008 we participated in our 3rd Annual Patuxent River Clean Up in Columbia, Maryland, and collected truckloads of trash in a single afternoon from the Middle Patuxent River and its floodplain. In past years SES and its volunteer organizer, Tim Trumbauer, received Governor’s commendations for “Outstanding Volunteer Service” signed by both then Governor Ehrlich and Lieutenant Governor Steele. Our efforts to keep the portion of the Middle Patuxent River in our office’s “back yard” trash free by participating in the stream clean up on an annual basis is a commitment we all look forward to as a fun social time, as well as an opportunity for the whole company to “walk the talk” of improving the environment. The SES staff, as individuals, actively volunteer for various organizations that promote environmental awareness and education. Some of these organizations include the National Aquarium in Baltimore, the Potomac Conservancy, the South River Federation, and a number of local watershed associations. Eileen Straughan currently volunteers on the Board of Directors for the Center for Watershed Protection (http://www.cwp.org), the Montgomery County Water Quality Advisory Group and is Vice President of the Maryland Stream Restoration Association (http://www.marylandstreams.org) ^ Top |
