In our never-ending search for information regarding environmental resources, we’ve identified a number of favorite websites that help us in our work. The following websites provide information regarding state and federal environmental programs:
Maryland Environmental Resource and Land Information Network (MERLIN) provides an excellent mapping resource for the State of Maryland. This site allows users to view aerial photographs or USGS topographic maps for a site and to overlay those maps with GIS layers ranging from NWI wetlands to land use. The US Department of Agriculture sponsors a useful site for information regarding plant species found throughout the US. The Plants National Database allows users to search an expansive database of plants by common or scientific name and provides pictures as well as information regarding habitat range, wetland indicator status, and plant characteristics. A number of websites provide information on things you can do for the environment.
